What it is

SPARK is an in-kind research grant rather than a cash award. Selected startups are matched with a Principal Investigator from Ajman University's faculty and a dedicated research team, and work to a structured plan with milestones, deliverables and quarterly reviews.

It is aimed at HealthTech, MedTech and Life Sciences startups with something already built — the stage where the question is whether the technology holds up, and what it would take to prove it.

What you receive

  • A research team

    A Principal Investigator from the faculty, working with postgraduate researchers and undergraduate innovators on your challenge.

  • Labs and facilities

    Access to Ajman University's laboratories and research facilities for the length of the project.

  • Technical validation

    Structured experimentation to test your technical and clinical claims and put evidence behind them.

  • Beyond the research

    Co-working space at AUIC, an Ajman DED commercial licence at AED 3,000 a year, and mentorship on going to market.

Who can apply

  • Working in HealthTech, MedTech or Life Sciences
  • Less than five years old
  • Raised less than $2M in funding
  • Based in the UAE, or with a clear plan to be within 12 months
  • A working prototype, MVP or validated concept — idea stage is not eligible
